The lead colar has two halves connected together and sealed by flanges. Each half outer end is stepped down and threaded on its outer surface to allow a threaded tube to screw over it. The tube is sealed to the collar half at the bottom of the thread. The tube outer end has an external thread to accept a cover cap with a central hole for the plastics cable. The conducting part of the cable passes straight through the tube into the junction region enclosed by the collar halves, whilst the cable insulating sleeve is clamped between serrations on the outer surface of the double stepped end of the collar and the inside of the tube. Two elastic sealing washers are located in the cap neck.
