Designed partic. for a Jacquard circular knitter, when the needle is not to be used a slide is moved across to push the pivoted needle suction to one side and withdraw the needle butt from the lock pathway so that the needle is rendered inoperative. The purpose is to ensure that the operating components of the needle, when not required for use, are out of contact with the control section, which increases operating speeds and reduces wear and the incidence of needle breakage.
