The junction box for multi-core telephone cables consists of a connection plate, with internal solder tags for the cable wires and externally protruding shunting or switching terminals, and a cover plate which screws onto flanges protruding from the connection plate. It has an inclined hole in its largest surface to admit the cable. The cover plate is sealingly attached to the connection plate. The box is mounted vertically with the shunting and switching terminals forming a regular array on its accessible, front-facing surface. The junction box enables a cable to be added or replaced simply and quickly.
