The test point is also equipped with measuring instruments. Each amplifying station with PCM terminal equipment has a remotely controlled analogue transmitter which can be connected by remote control to an l.f. line coming in to the terminal station, and there is a digital receiver which, controlled by clock pulses, can be connected at a chosen instant to an outgoing PCM transmission line, and a remotely controlled digital transmitter which can be connected by clock pulse controlled switching means at a chosen instant to an incoming PCM line; it has also an analogue receiver which can be connected by remote control to outgoing l.f. lines.
