The screw-down clamp, for h.f. coaxial cables, consists of a larger, lower insulating block and a smaller, upper insulating block which screws down onto the lower block using four symmetrically positioned screws. Each block has a set of coaxial, semicircular hollows running across it which, when the blocks are screwed together, form a series of coaxial holes of different diameters. The largest diameter is outermost and the smallest innermost, and they enable cables of different sizes (e.g. 5mm to 13mm) to be clamped firmly between the blocks with conductors protruding from the side having the smallest diameter. The exposed end of the clamped cable can then be mounted inside a suitable connector.
