Agglomeration of a granular material, esp. of coffee - by means of a slot nozzle preventing heat losses

A device for the prodn. of a granular material, esp. a coffee granulate, by allowing the matl to fall freely in front of a slot nozzle ejecting steam, has the upper and lower walls of Al or Al alloy, 20 mm thick, with the outsides of the leading edges chamfered to improve the flow, and the aperture between them, accurately variable. A second (diagonal) nozzle can be dispensed with. Surfaces of the belt remain clean much longer. Losses of powder are reduced. There is no marked unevenness of colouring.
