Moving parts are connected to their supports by means of an electromagnetic induction system. The wheel of e.g. a motor car is connected to a link made from a conducting material. The link passes through an electric coil and can hinge or slide at its end in a support. A current is passed through the coil which generates a magnetic flux in and around the coil. If the link moves in the magnetic field, an electric current will be induced in it, which sets up a magnetic field opposed to that of the coil. This field will exert a damping action on the movement.
