Fastener for fireproof furnace linings has a heat-resistant anchor with a shaft; the anchor is threaded and has a bearing surface, self-centering and ending in the shaft fixed to the head seated in the refractory mass. The anchor is built into the mass leaving play. Preferably the bearing surface is spherical or conical. The play is provided by a meltable coating of an easily melted metal or alloy. The head is dome-shaped. The coating is applied to the carrying surface through radial ribs which are distributed about the periphery. Stresses are eliminated, giving longer endurance, by accommodating thermal vol. expansion of the refractory steel anchor.
