The underframe of the table which is preferably of concrete comprises two perpendicular support frames which taper upwards in trapezoidal fashion, and un upper and lower horizontal square connecting frame which enclose the uprights for the support frame and are wedged tight with the support frame. First the lower and then the upper connecting frame is pushed from above over the support frame which is kept at suitable lateral spacing and under their own weight the connecting frames become wedged with the inclined uprights so that a permanently stable underframe is created on which the table top can be laid.
