Biocidal and cleaning compsn. contg. iodine and surfactant mixt. - exerting disinfecting effect without irritation or colouring skin

Biocidal and cleaning aqs. compsn. contains elemental iodine and at least two surfactants, one of them being a water-sol. polyethoxylated cpd. having the formula R-OCH2CH2)n-OH (in which R is a hydrophobic, organic, satd. radical, nd n=2-40) and the other(s) being selected from non-ionic, or cationic, or anionic and/or amphoteric surfactants free of unsatd. bonds. The compsn. contains 0.01-2.0 wt.% of iodine. The pH is 3.0-6.0. It is used for the disinfection of skin and other surfaces (skin lotions, shampoos, foam baths, etc.) Iodine is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, viruses and fungi; its action is rapid and universal. The compsn. also exerts a cleaning effect. The skin is not harmed; there is no irritation; the skin is not coloured (in contrast to known compsns. contg. free iodine.).
