Pressing and dewatering leather, esp. cattle hide halves - with endless compression felts and slower moving cord conveyor

An installation for continuously pressing and dewatering leather, esp. halves of the hides of bovines, has a conveyor formed by a series of endless nylon cords, arranged in front of and feeding at a lower speed than pressure bowls, around each of which an endless blanket of felt or similar material runs, tensioned by cylinders. The upper blanket moves vertically, whereas the lower runs horizontally and acts as a delivery conveyor also. In the space enclosed by the blankets between the pairs of cylinders and a humidifying and washing arrangement is provided. Effective dewatering and compression of the leather uniformly and without any creasing, laying the basis for further processing on broad cylinder machines, and higher prodn.
