Termination for high-current multi-conductor/strand cable - low-loss connection by use of reinforced holes for increased volumetric density of inserted conductor-strands

The cable head termination of copper or suitable metal into which the stranded conductors are inserted has a cylindric connecting part to the cable. The connecting part has over the periphery distributed drillings in axial direction the cross-sections of which are reduced by reinforcing seams in axial direction. The inserted ends of the conductor strands are thus compressed to a volumetric efficiency of nearly one. For a water-colled cable the termination has a central bore and on its periphery it carries in axial direction on the jacket between each two adjacent drillings bedlike grooves which end into channels leading to the central bore. The central bore may have a pressure regulating valve at the cable side end. The cable termination may have an annular tee-slot for fixing the insulating and/or coolant hose. The cable termination secures a temperature independent, reliable and tension-proof connection to the cable resulting in no voltage-drop.
