Load-limiting monitor system for AC network supplying welders - ensures efficient use of network by determining total power before switch-on

The load limiting monitor system for a.c. networks supplying electric welding equipment interrogates each welding machine, or group of welding machines, before they are switched on, to determine whether the additional power consumed by them will overload the a.c. network when added to the power already being consumed by other welding machines already in operation. Each welding machine is interrogated regardless of whether the summed power load obtained from a previous welding machine exceeds or lies below a given total power load. If, after a given time, that welding machine power which is causing the summed power load to exceed the total permissible load still does not allow that welding machine to be switched in without overloading the network, the interrogation process is terminated. The system enables the a.c. network to be used more efficiently.
