Metal tie-bars for container ship - have forged end bearings to locate in coupling shells to join threaded bars

The containers are stacked in an array and are secured by diagonal tie-bars which are set between coupling eyes on the corners of the containers and tensioning bars secured on fittings on the deck, or on the hatch covers. The individual tie-bars are steel with forged ends, and without any weld seams. The ends are forged to provide spherical bearing surfaces when clamped in coupling elements. This provides a considerable weight saving for the bars with a secure fastener. The bars can be fitted with minimal labour and tensioned securely, and do not wear out easily.
