The executive briefcase or small suitcase etc. which is rigid and has firm corners is fitted with a stand which can be unfolded, extended, rotated or moved along and allows the case to be set up on the floor like a table so that it can be easily opened and when closed used as a writing top or the like. The stand which can support the case at different heights and angles may be firmly fitted into the case or be detachable and it can be extended manually or automatically e.g. by springs or hydraulic pressure.
