Appts. for continuously adjusting the mass press. in an extruder having an axially immovable screw has an axially adjustable ring that surround the periphery and a part of the rear side of a cylindrical screw section, or the periphery of a conical screw section, and has a radial extension engaging with the housing part of the extruder through a slot extending in the direction of the screw axis, this extension covering the slot continuously over its whole length. Accurate adjustment of the mass press. is possible by simple adjustment of the outlet cross section.
