Skin cosmetics e.g. deodorant sprays - contg. lichen acids, pref. usnic or evernic acids, dissolved in alcohols with hydroxy-amines

Cosmetic prepn. for dermatological use contains a lichen-derived acid (I), pref. usnic or evernic acid, dissolved in an alcohol, pref. EtOH and/or isopropanol, together with a hydroxy-amine cpd., (II) pref. amino-ethyl propanediol (II') or tri(hydroxymethyl)-amino-methane (II''). Used in deodorant sprays, hair- and shaving lotions and disinfectant solns. (I) have bactericidal activity on g. +ve- and myco-bacteria and fungi and are non-toxic for cosmetic use; addn. of (II) increases solubility of (I) in alcohols, e.g. from 0.02 to 3%; compsns. are compatible with propellent gases, and have a suitable skin pH.
