Stresser for sporting bows enables the bow to be strung, and has a frame receiving the bow horizontally and with the middle part hanging downward. A hold-down is guided horizontally on the frame, and engages in the grip trough of the bow; it is actuated by a nut on a leadscrew turned by a hand crank. Preferably the frame is a block consisting of a horizontal beam with legs. The support for the ends of the bow comprises two rotatable rollers horizontal axes, perpendicular to the beam and fitted to it. The bow can be strung by a young or weak person, without difficulty.
