Rotary piston engine of trochoid design - has recess at combustion chamber entrance to give ram effect to turbulence

The design is an improvement to patent 776243, whereby a projecting sill with apertures is provided in the engine casing between the working chamber and the combustion chamber in order to promote a favourable fuel mixture turbulence. The two working chambers are separated by radial seals and each chamber contains a combustion chamber whose respective trailing edges form a sill. Between the sill and the following radial seal a recess with a similar trailing edge is provided in the cylinder casing, with one or more channels connecting the two chambers. The main combustion chamber is displaced from the symmetric plane so that the recess is immediately in front of the radial seal.
