Multi-pronged fork for handling potatoes in jackets - prevents damage to well-cooked potato or injury to user

The potato fork has a tubular handle and four prongs. Two of the prongs are part of a single strip of steel a few tenths of a millimetre thick and a few millimetres wide which is bent in the form of a long narrow U. The other two prongs are similarly formed. A longitudinal slot provides a guide for a pin, the inner end of which is attached to the folded part of the steel strips which form the prongs. The other end of the pin is attached to the knob by means of which the prongs can be withdrawn into the handle so that the fork can be handled without risk of injury to the user.
