Shield mine support with floor skid - forepoled part of roofbar fitted with hydraulic adjusting cylinder reference caving shield

Shield support for mines composed of floor skid and a hinged caving shield reaching forward towards the face from the rear end of the skid to terminate in an articulated roofbar, with prop interposed between shield or bar and the skid. The forepoled part of the roofbar directed towards the face via the joint is fitted with a hydraulic piston and cylinder power unit connected at one end to the shield and otherwise to the roofbar. Preferably this cylinder is integrated in the roofbar and connected by the cylinder to the bar and by the piston rod to the shield. The cylinder housing should have limited pivotability in the plane of the roofbar, possibly round a vertical axis at the end nearest the coalface.
