The plastic forming the marker-pieces may be of acrylic glass, and is of a geometrical shape to absorb the light from the sun, street lamps or head-lights and to reflect it back at an angle of emergence of more than forty-two degrees. Most of the light striking the top and sides is reflected forwards. The marker-pieces may be discs placed on kerb-edges or such like. Their underneath side may be painted white, in order to increase the light yield.
