Waste water pumping plant control system - has diaphragm actuated switch for automatic switching of pump motor

The waste water pumping system has a maximum of two electrically powered pumps. The actuating switches of these pumps are connected to diaphragms held at high water level in the waste water tank wall. This arrangement eliminates disadvantages of float operated switches in which mechanical elements are subject to sticking. The tank has a step whose horizontal face is slightly below the high water level. Thea actuator unit with diaphragm is actuated when the water level rises to contact it. The diaphragm is firmly clamped and its edges act as seals. The diaphragm centre actuates a vertical plunger. If one of the pumps fails or if excess quantities are to be pumped then the other pump is switched on.
