Auxiliary device for hand operation of the lifter of a diesel engine injection poump consists of a hand lever and a rotatable dog engaging in the path of motion of the lifter and eccentrically fitted on a separate carrier, a cylindrical bolt with a driver engaging in the circular path of a stop, which is fitted in an independent rotatable bushing with a hand lever. There is an elastic connected between the cylindrical bolt and the rotatable bushing, as a torsion spring whose bias presses the dog into engagement with the lifter. The auxiliary is simple and can be easily operated while the engine is running; it can be quickly attached to the engine, and enables the injection pump to be turned on and off without dangerous impacts between the dog and lifter.
