Reducing air pollution from an IC engine, in which the lighter fraction of the combustion prods. is sepd. from the heavier fraction and introduced into the engine air intake. The heavier fraction passes through perforated conduits located within and adjacent the bottom of a closed receptacle contg a treatment mixt. of triethylolamine, fullers earth and ethylene glycol, the level of which is above the perforated conduits. Cooling conduits extends through the receptacle and baffles are provided transverse the receptacle above the mixt. A gas outlet is situated above the baffles.
