Dental X-ray film viewer has a housing with a matt panel and built-in lamp, and may be used for panoramic dental films; it has a universal mounting, for attachment to dental equipment. Preferably the mounting consists of a telescopic system for attachment to the rear side of the treatment chair at the side away from the dentist. A bearing is built in between the universal joint and the telescopic system, to permit lateral pivoting-out of the appts. The mounting on dental equipment is on a conventional boom for weight-less up and down movement, with a clamp to a standing or suspended lamp fitting.
