Adjusting flange for worm seating on steering gear - enables seating stress to be precisely adjusted when using cup spring

The flat flange has a central borehole and four holes for belts. A flat front surface is used to seal on a steering gear housing and provides a flat base channel which is located concentrically to the central opening and has a limited axial extension. An intermediary washer is arranged between the housing and the flange and its thickness determines the stressing of the cup spring positioned between the flange and the bearing for the steering worm. During assembly the cup spring is compressed by the fastening bolts until the intermediary washer rests against the housing and the flange.
