Improved filter cloth for plate and chamber press - having impermeable sleeve around inlet passage to prevent premature blocking

Plate and chamber press consists of plates with cloths forming chambers to receive filter cake deposited from a slurry feed. The edges of the cloths around the feed passage have an impermeable coating. This can be a sleeve wrapped over and stuck onto the filter surface with a suitable adhesive or by use of self-adhesive material. Prevents premature deposition of cake in the chambers causing the inlet region near the feed channel to block before each chamber is fully loaded thus limiting the filter capacity. This is partic. so where easily filtered materials are involved. Premature blockage prevents blowing out of the feed channel before cake removal. Often the filter must be opened by hand which leads to damage to the filter cloths and to the plates. Also product is saved since hand cleaning means loss of residual slurry in the loading channel.
