A punch for diverse materials including plastics, comprises a table and a punch plate executing the punching stroke, at whose underside a striking plate or punching knife is fixed. The punch plate is pivotable, about horizontal axes, in any direction, and may be aligned with the surface of the table, by means of stops or buffers. This arrangement combines relatively simple constructions with clean and even punching-out.
