Compressor has a press, valve between its cylinder head and the cylinder head cover, consisting of a valve plate with valve opening(s) passing transversely through it, a yoke-shaped valve catcher bent w.r.t. the seating plate, and an elastic valve lamella held between the seating plate and the catcher. The valve seating plate is connected at its interior to a cooling water circuit. Preferably the cylinder head and cover are water-cooled; the seating plate is in the circuit between them, and the water flows to it from the cylinder head and from it to the cylinder head cover. Coking-up is eliminated.
