A dyestuff is applied to a pile fabric, esp. polyamide carpetings using a curved edge plate with a radius 50mm to support the fabric and expose the pile to the application of dyestuff in a penetrating film for the rolled fabric to be rotated for several hours at room temp. while the dye acts. Small quantities of dyestuff are used and little energy, the dyeing process providing an even and consistent dyed effect across the whole width of the fabric.
