Surgical closure clip for hollow organs has two spaced, adjacent clip parts acting as a single clip and leaving the hollow organ accessible between them. Preferably the parts are interconnected at at least one place, e.g. at both ends by cross connections. The parts may be bent back on themselves to form an acute angle. Securers fix the position of the clip relative to holding jaws of an instrument for manipulating the clips. The securer comprises a recess of the clip and a fitting projection on a holding jaw of the instrument; the recess lies between a crossbar and a connecting part of the clip parts. The clip cannot be released inadvertently from the instrument or from the hollow organ, while the clip is being positioned.
