Thyristor bridge rectifier - has turn-off bridge with turn-off and charging thyristors for commutating capacitors

The thyristor bridge rectifier has three main thyristors and three diodes forming the rectifying part of the total bridge, and six other thyristors forming the turn off circuitry for the main thyristors. Each limb of the turn-off bridge consists of the series combination of a capacitor and a turn-off thyristor. The junction between capacitor and turn-off thyristor in each limb is connected over a charging thyristor, or a charging diode and a resistor or a choke or both, to the junction between main thyristor and diode in one limb of the rectifying bridge. The total rectifier uses as few components as possible for optimum characteristics.
