摘要
Leaded glazing, esp. including ornamental, figured glass has a second pane of protective glass located at a fixed distance from the ornamental pane. The pane of protective glass is held on the ornamental glass solely by means of a strip of permanently self-adhesive, durably elastic synthetic rubber, which is located near the edges of the two panes and held in position by numerous distance pieces between the peripheries of the two panes. The distance pieces may consit of profiled sections with a straight, curved, or angular shape which are pref. pressed in between the panes so their outer edges are flush with the edges of the panes, and the process is esp. applicable to leaded glass with complex contours. The method is used esp. for gothic church windows. This special form of double glazing can be prepd. in a workshop and the resulting assembly treated as a one-piece unit for storage and shipment. Valuable stained-glass windows etc. used in churches must be protected from outside damage by a pane of protective glass and this method excludes moisture forming between the two panes and the protective glass is easy to replace.
