The external broaching of flat surfaces, in which a circular broaching tool of constant cutting diameter is used and is fitted parallel to the workpiece surface, and is inclined with respect to the direction of cut by the total feed of a working stroke. Specifically, there are two circular broaching tools which diverge in the direction of the cut. Broaching tools, without chip breaker grooves, may be used. At the end of the machine stand path, the broaching tool is turned through an angle corresponding to the arc of engagement of the cutting edges single- or multi-part tool may be used for broaching.
