Flanged joint for pipe clamping and sealing - uses plain ended pipe without need for screw thread and clamping and seal rings

The flange has a cylindrical extension with a tapered bore. The member to which the pipe is to be attached has a recess which matches the extension, a recess for the seal ring and a smaller concentric bore to match the outside diameter of the pipe. A clamping ring has a bore which matches the pipe and a tapered outside diameter which matches the tapered bore of the flange. When the flange securing bolts are tightened, the flange bore is pushed over the tapered ring compressing it against the pipe. At the same time, the seal ring is compressed so that the pipe is both clamped and sealed.
