The label consists of a backing paper with a coating of reagent on the front side, above which is a layer of micro-capsules which are pressure sensitive and are covered by a protective paper layer which may carry original data. Beneath the backing paper is an adhesive film, protected by a silicon sheet and this in turn is protected by a disposable cover paper. Pressure on the top layer causes the micro-capsules to fracture and initiates a colour producing reaction in the reagent. Subsequent removal of the disposable cover paper exposes the adhesive layer and permits the lable, ticket etc., to be affixed to the desired surface.
