The central conductor is placed between two dielectric foils and metal earthing plates of a superconducting material. The resonator frequency depends on the strip line length. Rectangular dielectric plates taper at one end, and can slide along paths which cross the strip line elements. They are externally remotely controlled. The strip line central conductor consists of sections about half a wavelength long at the filter centre frequency. They are coupled with each other through slots. Each of these sections is bent at a right angle, and the central conductor, together with the dielectric foils and earthing plates, forms a rectangular capacitively slot coupled filter with a strip transmission line. Strip line sections intersect the paths of the above plates.
