The sound is dampened by dividing the flow cross section into separate flow channels. A flow divider with part flow apertures is positioned in the direction of flow opposite to the direction of closure of the valve, at a distance to the throttle cross section. The flow divider consists of a hollow cylinder, with slots, apertures, etc., surrounding the valve body, respectively the valve cylinder. Two or more flow dividers may be positioned, behind, or concentrically within each other. In a single seat valve, the gap between the largest diameter of the valve body, and the flow divider, corresponds to the size respectively slot width of a part flow aperture.
