The invention relates in particular to an oblong vibratory trough conveyor, shut off from the outside, for treating granular minerals at great thickness by reaction gases. At one end of the conveyor are a number of transverse ribs, one above the other, occupying the cross-section of the conveyor for its full height. The ribs have faces inclined upwards in the direction of transport, the upper edge of one rib being at approximately the level of the bottom edge of the next one above it. The ribs can be of sheet steel, with an angled profile, the upwards-inclined faces being preceded by horizontal ones. The ribs can each be adjustable about a horizontal axis at right angles to the direction of transport, and separately, and means can be provided for cooling them.
