Control system for duct cross-section - is especially for controlling air duct cross-section in air-cooled motor

The control system measures the cross section of the ducts by illuminating them, so that the cross section can be derived from the transmitted light beam. At one side of a ducted component such as the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, a flashing light source is provided, and at the other side of the component are photoelectric circuit elements, each alighed with ne of the ducts. These photo-electric elements provide an output signal representing the value of the transmitted beam, supplied to an evaluating circuit, for obtaining the corresponding duct cross section, and e.g. providing a warning signal when the ducts are blocked.
