Monolithic luminescent diodes with p- and n- conducting strips - have light output zones on surface, minimising loss by absorption

Luminescent diodes of monolithic construction in a semiconductor body consist of a series of n- and p-conducting strips, with pn-junctions being normal to the surface of the semiconductor body, whilst the light output surfaces are distributed over its surface. Light losses due to absorption in the semiconductor body are minimised.
