The proposed equipment makes use of the principle of equipotential lines between electrodes and may be used over telephone systems without using extra lines. The transmitting and receiving ends both have a conducting rectangular plane, e.g. conducting surface paper, with 6V. electrodes in their upper corners and the OV electrode in the middle at the bottom. These electrode pairs are fed from different frequency generators and result in a pattern of equipotential lines across the surface of the plane. The plane may thus transmit positional information on a conducting pen on its surface by the mixed frequency signal relative to teh OV electrode. This may then be transmitted over a telephone line in the same way as speech to the receiving end.
