The three-phase statis inverter pair has both inverters supplied in parallel from the smoothed output of a single battery and controlled from the same control unit. The phase shifted outputs of the inverters are passed to an output transformer. The transformer consists of an iron yoke shaped like two figure 8s side by side and has two groups of six windings wound around its six limbs i.e. two groups of three inputs and one group of three outputs---the latter leading to the a.c. load. The outputs of one inverter are connected to the transformer winding such that they are displaced by 120 w.r.t. the output connections of the other inverters.
