Sinter-granulation and heat treatment of solid particles - in fluidised beds with countercurrent flow of solids

In the granulation by sintering (followed by subsequent heat treatment where appropriate) of the solid particles in a fluidised bed, in which the product is extracted through orifices in the bed distributor plate, the product is extracted through the orifices provided for the inlet of the fluidising gas. The orifices are sized according to the required size of the product particles, which flow out in a direction opposite to that of the fluidising gas. Used in cement mfr. and similar processes. The temp. and residence time of the particles can be accurately controlled. Very finely powdered material can be processed, since the particles remain in the bed until the required degree of agglomeration has been achieved. In cement production, strongly alkaline raw material can be processed.
