Plug-in connections and adaptors for the headphone, the headphone cable and extension cable can all be accommodated within the stand thus providing a sure protection from dust, saving of storage space, and ready access to the equipment. The stand is so designed and sturdy in construction and weighted so that it can only be overturned by the application of a deliberate force. When not in use the stand can be used for other purposes e.g. wig-stand, support for hangers. The invention thereby reverses the common practice in which a wig-stand or similar is adapted for use as a stand for headphones.
