The carpet shampoo apparatus is fitted with two circular oppositely rotating brushes which are supplied with foam-producing fluid from an internal supply tank and so that the foam applied to the carpet is not too wet. Non-rotating fixed annular bristles are incorporated in the brush heads so that they extend up to the top of the lower horizontal base wall of the brush heads between the radial entrainment ribs which are provided for the foam fluid. In this way foam of exactly the right consistency is produced inside the rotating brush heads from where it passes out through side ports and onto the carpet. The annular bristles are preferably mounted a common support plate which is provided with the necessary bores for the drive shafts and supply lines for the fluid.
