Transfer wheel for discharging granulated bulk into transport tube - uses compressed air stream to prevent dust deposits

Granulated bulk material is fed into a pressurized transport tube by means of a transfer wheel. The cylindrical wheel which is totally enclosed by a housing, has radial wings which form wheel chambers. The upper end of the housing forms a supply chute whilst the lower part is linked with the transport tube. The wheel chambers directly below the supply chute are filled with material which is discharged when the chambers reach their lowest position. Compressed air branched off from the transport tube in front of the loading point flows through the transfer wheel housing in a downward direction. In this way, the air stream keeps the transfer wheel clean by preventing the build up of dust deposits.
