A protection arrangement against the growth from harmful by protective means against corrosion sheltered low water - steel parts

Steel structural units for underwater use, esp. ships and pipes, are protected against corrosion and fouling, by plant or other growth, by applying a metallic anti-fouling agent, surrounding steel unit entirely or in part, on an electrically insulating layer coating the surface of the steel unit. Long-term protection is given; anti-fouling protection lasts for several years and can be renewed without lifting steel units out of sea-water, drying and repainting. Insulating layer pref. consists of a plastic, e.g. polyethylene, and anti-fouling agent of Cu or a Cu alloy, used as a wire, strip, foil, mesh, paint or sprayed-on powder.
