1465007 Moving furniture LANDSTINGENS INKOPSCENTRAL LIC EKONOMISK FORENING 25 April 1974 [9 May 1973] 18118/74 Heading A4U A structure, e.g. for a hospital bed, comprises legs 2, 3 and castors 20 which are moveable into and out of alternative engagement with the floor by a foot pedal 9, the arrangement being such that when the castors are in use the bottom of the legs are disposed between pairs of the castors whereby the wheels can pass obstacles such as thresholds without the leg bottoms coming into contact with these. The castors 20 are carried by arms 4, 5 pivoted on the legs at 6, 7, the pairs of arms 4 and 5 being respectively inter-connected for common movement and being inter-connected by struts 8 having a pin 14 engaged by a slot 13 on the pedal 9 which is pivoted at 10 and is biased by a spring 15 to a position in which the castors are not engaged with the floor. A latch 16 is pivoted at 19 on the pedal and is biased by a spring 17 to a position in which it engages a boss 18 to releasably retain the castors in their floor-engaging position. Because of the closeness the pivots 6, 7 of the arms 4, 5 and the legs 2, 3 the structure can be lowered easily from the position shown in Fig. I by use of the pedal 9 until the legs engage the floor.
